Target Stores Coupon Policy
Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it's easy to use them at our stores.
• Target accepts one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item (unless prohibited)
• Super Target coupons can be used in any Target store if the store carries the item
• We gladly accept valid internet coupons
Because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target. When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:
• We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons and manufacturer-issued.
• We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
• Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.
• We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
• We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
• All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out.
I shop at Target about every 4 to 6 weeks. My closest Target is small and further than most other stores around me. Target can be a great place to shop especially because like many of the pharmacies you can get trial size items for free if you run across coupons that say they can be used on any item. My local (Waterford) Target does not have a great selection, however the Bloomfield Target does have a great selection, however the problem with them is that they are not coupon-friendly. I've walked out of their empty handed at least twice and had to call corporate. You will her a lot of buzz about Target not being all that coupon-friendly but in some areas they truly are great. Target frequently has promotions in which you buy certain items and receive a $5 Gift Card to use on your next purchase. They also have a Pharmacy at some locations and periodically offer gift cards when you transfer prescriptions to their pharmacy. They now offer a $.05 discount for each reusable bag you bring like most grocery stores do.
One other great thing about Target is that they now price match. You can also find that policy on-line and I have a link below. The guidelines are as follows:
How does price matching work?
If you find an item in a competitor's printed ad that is priced lower than it is at your Target store, we will match the price. The competitor's ad must be local and current, and the product must be the identical item, brand name, quantity and model number. Target.com is excluded from our price matching policy. Competitor catalogs can also be ad matched as long as the catalog displays a valid date and meets all other qualifications.
What if I've already made the purchase at Target?
No problem. Within seven days of purchase, bring your Target receipt and the competitor 's current printed ad. We will reimburse the savings to you.
What qualifies as proof of a competitor's advertisement?
Please show us the entire printed advertisement. Photos, photocopies, or mobile phone versions of the ad cannot be accepted as verification of competitive pricing.
What does 'identical store item' mean?
The program covers items with the identical brand name, size, weight, quantity and model number of the item at Target stores. We reserve the right to verify a competitor's advertised price and the availability of the product.
Can I use coupons when price matching?
A guest can use coupons when price matching per Target's normal coupon policy. When the guests presents a coupon(s), these steps will be followed:
Manufacturer Coupons:
Manufacturer coupons will be applied after the price match is made.
Target Coupons:
Target coupons will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price.
Combining both a Target and Manufacturer Coupons:
The Target coupon will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price. Once the price match is made the manufacturer coupon will be applied.
Reminder: We accept one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item unless either coupon prohibits it.
Target does not ad match a competitors coupon-required offers.
What do you mean by local retail competitors?
This refers to retail stores located within the same market area as a particular Target store. Examples of a market area can be a city, a metropolitan area or a specific rural region.
What about online price matching?
All online pricing, including Target.com, is excluded from our price matching policy, as well as online retail promotions or products advertised on another company's web or mobile sites.
Other price matching exclusions include:
Online prices, including Target.com
Promotions or products advertised on another company's web or mobile sites, even those advertising in-store prices.

I tend to just buy things I love when they are a good sale like frozen meals, Sobe, etc. or stick to the Gift Card promotions or occassional free household and health and beauty items that come up. How do you shop at Target? What has been your experience? Is it a regular store for you?
